FOCUS Portable

Corneal Topographer

Compact and portable instrument suitable for:
- Corneal topography
- Corneal aberrometry
- Contact lens autofit design based on cornea heights
- Ortho-k lens design based on cornea heights
- Contact Lens Posterior surface measurement
- Contact lens database with more than 500.000 lenses
- Networkable software
- Small dimensions for portability and mounting on CSO slit lamp

The FOCUS Corneal Topographer is designed and developed by using the latest technology for corneal topography. The basic features, ergonomic design, superior reliability and ease of use make EyeTop 2005 the first choice in diagnostic and contact lens applications.

The portable Focus topographer is a very compact instrument, designed to be moved and to be handy used or mounted on Slit Lamps.

The Focus portable Topographer meets the needs of those who want to use the instrument in different clinics and is useful for refractive surgery purposes. The big Placido disk with 24 rings and a 56 mm as working distance, with no contact with patient, warrantsa sterilized and safe examination procedure.

The Focus Topographer uses the same EyeTop2005 software (as CM02 and CM/P02 topographers). This allows to:

- Perform a complete wavefront analysis with Zernike polynomial decomposition

- Analyze the kerato-refractive indices of the cornea

- Show a complete visual quality summary

- Simulate a contact lens application with preferred lens management

- Make a direct link to an excimer laser for customized ablation treatment.

The software can work in network, and it can be integrated with the optional EyeImage software, for Video and pictures acquisition from Slit Lamps, graphic tools and measurements on pictures.

The FOCUS Topographer has a 24 rings Placido Diskwith a 58 mm working distance, to avoid decenterings to affect acquisitions. It has a High performances CCD 1/3” videocamerawith 320.000 pixels and a FireWire connection with 25fps processed; processed pictures have a resolution of 768 x 576 pixels.

EYETOP2005 SOFTWARE SPECIFICATIONS

The software graphic interface has been completely re-designed. By solving the lacks of the previous version EyeTop2005 has now a NEW INTERFACE.

Most of the data are available with a LOOK and with a SINGLE CLICK!

The new EyeTop2005 software has been completely re-designed by using the latest technology.

The new Microsoft .NET Framework platform allows the software to work in a network environment without adding any optional module. This system allows a real network communication: clients are directly connected to the DBMS.

All data are managed into a DataBase Management System (MS SQL Server) to the aim of increasing data security and reducing loosing information chances and making backup and restore operations aesier.

Hardware features:

  • Big Placido disk (24 rings) with a 92 mm working distance (CM02 and CM/P02) and with 56 mm (Focus and LITE)
  • The quality of captured images has been improved (768 x 576 pixels). Firewire connection allows, during acquisition, a frame rate of 25 frames/s.

Topography

  • Improved acquisition procedure with best-focus algorithm, in order to reduce errors and taking very accurate keratoscopy pictures. This increases performance and accuracy in processing low curvatures surfaces and in toric surfaces.
  • Advanced rings editing tool to the aim of get a perfect rings reconstruction also on particularly bad corneas
  • Axial and instantaneous maps
  • Absolute, Normalized or Adjustable scales available
  • Curvature in millimeters or diopters; asphericity in p, e, Q, SF
  • Altimetric maps* with reference to
    - spherical best-fit surface, whose radius is automatically calculated
    - aspherical best-fit surface, whose apical radius and asphericity are automatically calculated
    - asphero-torical best-fit surface, whose apical radius, asphericity and toricity are automatically calculated
    - mean cornea, whose apical radius and toricity are automatically calculated
    - another measured cornea
For all the best-fit surfaces the size of the fitting area is adjustable.
  • Refractive power map*, which locally represents the power of the corneal surface.
  • A summary* shows in a single window all the information calculated for the current examination.
  • Zernike polynomial decomposition for corneal aberration*
  • Zernike Altimetry*: decomposition into Zernike polynomials of the heights of the cornea referred to the surface vertex.
  • Maps comparison up to 4 maps, for axial curvatures, instantanous and refractive powers.
  • Differential maps* with 2 or 3 (NEW) elements for instantaneous, axial and refractive maps.
  • Several indices available:
  1. Sim-K
  2. Meridians and Emimeridians at 3 mm, 5 mm and 7 mm.
  3. Pupil decentering, pupil radius and pupil diameter
  4. Corneal asphericity at 8 mm and 4.5 mm*
  5. Kerato-refractive indices, evaluated in pupil area*, to evaluate the patient visual quality
  6. Keratokonus screening* for a preventive diagnosis of this pathology
  7. Peripheral degrees*
  • Corneal wavefront analysis with:
    - Corneal wavefront summary with adjustable pupil, including maps of most common aberrations
    - Corneal aberrations analysis
    - A new visual quality summary with new representations for PSF, Spot Diagram and visus simulation and with the introduction of the MTF*.
  • Map image export in common graphic formats (.PNG, .BMP, .JPG)
  • Customized report are available also with add-logo feature.

Pupillometry

An optional infrared pupillometry module is completely integrated with topography. This allows to:

  1. measure pupil dynamic size. Starting with a high light condition (about 400 lux) and switching off the light, pupil dilatation can be observed from the minimum to the maximum extension.
  2. measuring pupil dimension in scotopic light* (0.4 lux) condition to the aim of evaluate the maximum pupil size and its optical zone
  3. measuring pupil dimension in mesopic light* (4 lux)
  4. measuring pupil dimension in fotopic light* (50 lux)
  5. evaluate pupil decentering respect to cornea apex, for each of above depicted light conditions, and the pupil center derive during dilatation.
  6. apply those measurements* to the calculation of Corneal OPD (or WFE) and to show the pupil over the various different topographic maps* and contact lens simulations*.

Contact lenses

  • Calculus and simulation of rigid contact lenses
  • Autofit module for the search of the best lens on altimetric basis in a database containing more than 500000 lenses.
  • Tool for customizing a contact lens on a measured cornea by inserting the geometric parameters of its posterior surface
  • Tools for moving and tilting the simulated lens on the cornea
  • Graph of the tears profile
  • Export of measured data to some external applications for contact lens design
